Windows NT had just come out and there were books on top URLs on the internet! After briefly toying with the idea of working together, Lorcan decided he wanted to go home to Trinidad to build a business and raise his family there. He was incredibly successful and over the next 20 years built 3 businesses with a combined annual turnover of $50M.

For Saranjit, London was home and he stayed put but was incredibly restless. A couple of years later in 1995, he discovered that India had IT skills and decided to leverage those, which also helped him to keep going back for a visit! Prior to Centrefile, Saranjit had a spell in network marketing which introduced him to the field of personal development. After a crazy firewalk on 12 feet of burning hot coal with Anthony Robbins at the NEC in Birmingham, he took a blank piece of paper and designed his new life. Then followed a hugely successful business career in using local and offshore resources to deliver technology solutions to UK, European and North American businesses. The last seven years have seen a deep dive into the world of open source, helping the European Commission to foster open source internally and within the 27 member states.

Joining forces

Lorcan and Saranjit kept in touch and in 2001 decided to do something together.  Nio Digital started in Trinidad & Tobago, helping SMEs to digitalise, winning the “Prestigious Champions of Business Award - SME segment” from the Trinidad & Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce. We have helped over 25 customers literally transform themselves using an open source ERP, customised to their specific needs. This success is built upon Lorcan’s experience of successfully delivering hundreds of ERP solutions via his previous business.

As a second leg to the highly successful ERP business, Saranjit brings into the Nio fold his successful company Milan Digital Limited, which is focussed on delivering bespoke Digital Solutions using open source technologies. Customers served include EE (no BT), WEF, European Commission and a whole range of small and medium businesses.

Also joining the company is a suite of innovative software by Ricky Garcia, addressing non-banking insurance related products created specifically for the Commonwealth market. 

Today, Nio is an international business, with staff in London, Belgium, the US, Trinidad and India. Foreseeing future growth, we have moved our headquarters to Europe.
